Vapor Phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI)

Cortec's VpCI product and additives offer highly efficient, pro-environmental, and an economical multi-metal corrosion protection for process industries. While conventional corrosion inhibiting treatment provides protection at the liquid phase only, VpCl technology provides corrosion protection in interface, liquid phase, and vapor phase for water-base metalworking fluid, lubricant, cleaner and coating during product manufacturing during in-plant processing, medium-term protection for shipment and storage, or extended protection for lay-up, mothballing, and field service.

How VpCI Works

  • • Conditions enclosed atmosphere with a protective vapor.
  • • Vapor condenses on all metal surfaces.
  • • Ions dissolve in moisture layer (water electrolyte).
  • • Protective ions are attracted to metal surfaces.
  • • Ions form a thin, mono molecular protective layer at the metal surface.
  • • Protective layer re-heals and self-replenishes through further condensation of the vapor.
